The 3-2 MPH program, designed exclusively for WashU undergraduates, provides a unique opportunity to earn both a bachelor's degree and a Master of Public Health degree within five years. This accelerated program is perfect for students who are passionate about public health and want to accelerate their education and career in this field. Students pursuing this program receive comprehensive advising that considers their personal interests, career goals, and timeline.

Eligibility, Tuition & Academic Planning

Eligibility & Application Requirements
This program is open to current WashU Arts & Sciences undergraduate students, including Public Health & Society majors and minors. Students apply during their junior year.  The application requires a statement of purpose, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a resume. 
 

Tuition
Students will be charged undergraduate tuition for their first four years. In their fifth year, they will be charged at the MPH tuition rate.
 

Academic planning

  • Junior year: Students complete the application process for the MPH program. Students must complete all of their distribution and major requirements by the end of their junior year.
     
  • Senior year: Accepted students start taking graduate-level MPH while completing their bachelor's-degree requirements.
     
  • Fifth year: Students complete the remaining MPH requirements, including, but not limited to, practicum, coursework, and capstone.

  • Discuss degree options with a dean in Arts & Sciences and with a dean in the professional school.
  • Request the Eligibility Certification Form in Arts & Sciences.
  • Submit the completed Eligibility Certification Form with the application for the 3-2 program to the professional school early in the spring semester of your junior year.
